UE Local 1008 negotiators finally met with SPS July 21st and made significant bargaining progress winning agreement on just cause discipline protections, a shorter probation period, stewards rights, safety protections, and a union bulletin board.

A delegation of UE L 1008 members visited striking University of California service workers at the UC Irvine Medical Center on Thursday.

As the third consecutive day of bargaining with Northrop Grumman in Vermont concluded on July 17, the negotiating committee made sure the last words spoken were a renewed demand for decent wage increases.

Local 1008 negotiators completed a marathon session with Stanley late today with TAs on Union Shop, stewards rights language, a grievance procedure, layoff protections and new ways to deal with IPRs and productivity standards. Progress was also made on economics protecting bereavement and jury duty leave. Negotiations will continue July 23 on important economic issues such as 401k, personal time, hours of work and insurance benefits.

Today, July 16th, the UE met again to bargain with Northrop Grumman. While progress was made yesterday regarding Union Security, the company has made no proposal for a wage increase.

Stanley bargaining continued July 15 with significant progress to reach agreement on outstanding language issues which include union shop, layoff protections and a grievance procedure to resolve workplace problems.

On July 15, UE and Northrop Grumman reached a verbal agreement on a number of articles including Union Shop.
